– MATERNITY PHOTOGRAPHY IN BEXLEYHEATH –
Maternity photography is a beautiful and intimate art form that captures the glow, joy, and anticipation of pregnancy. It celebrates the mother-to-be, her growing bump, and the deep emotional connection with her unborn child. Partners, siblings, and even your beloved pets are welcome to join in, making the experience even more personal and meaningful.
Maternity sessions are best during 7-8 months when the tummy is nice and round but before any swelling may begin. For those carrying multiples or on bed rest, it’s advised to have your session a little earlier, around 6-7 months. For those woman gaining little weight throughout pregnancy (roughly under 20 pounds) then I suggest waiting until 8 months. It’s good to have your session when your tummy is nice and round, but before your entire body swells and you’re uncomfortable.
Maternity sessions require you to move in ways you’re not used to, and as a result, can be exhausting to the body. I suggest you eat a well balanced meal with carbs and protein, drink lots of water and to stay off your feet for 1-2 hours before your session. I also suggest making sure your partner and child/ren also have a meal before their session.
The aim of maternity photography is to document this unique and fleeting moment in your life. Each session includes a mix of individual portraits of mum-to-be and family shots that capture the love and excitement of this special time. In the warmth and comfort of my studio, you’ll have the freedom to pose naturally and comfortably, whether fully clothed or tastefully semi-nude. Every image is crafted to reflect your personality, style, and emotional journey.
My approach to maternity photography embraces authenticity and natural moments, with a relaxed dress code that keeps the focus on you. A timeless and popular outfit choice is denim paired with white — as you’ll see in my portfolio, simple clothing can be incredibly effective. If you’d like to try something different, you can hire a maternity dress. A popular hire option is Props & Drops.
These portraits will become treasured keepsakes — timeless reminders of the beauty of motherhood and the miracle of new life.

FAQ
What should we wear?
I would suggest keeping things fairly neutral – not too smart, not too scruffy. Try to wear something you might normally wear, this way you will feel comfortable. The main rule is: simple, non-patterned or heavy logo’s. Try to coordinate colours so your colours work well as a group.

What do I need to do to prepare for the photoshoot?
Make yourself a list of items to bring. Some of those things might be –
Outfit options
Make-up
Hair brush
Body lotion
Scan photo
Pack your bag the night before your photoshoot. Some people find it easier to bring everything in a small suitcase and carry their clothes on a hanger.
What happens if my children mis-behave?
Firstly, I’m a mum and have dealt with tantrums, talking children round and have worked with children of all ages from being a child practitioner for over ten years. I’ve literally seen it all and won’t be surprised by anything your child throws at me! I’m relaxed by nature, and ask parents not to worry or be anxious about their children on the photoshoot.
If one of your children is not co-operating, we’ll deal with this at the time. I have never in all the years I have photographed had a child completely refuse to be photographed. I have many tricks up my sleeve!
What if I hate having my photo taken?
People say this to me all the time. I’ll be there to pose you in the best light and will give you tips on how to stand/sit to look your very best. As a professional photographer it’s my job to guide and make sure you feel comfortable. Nobody has ever regretted having their photo taken with me!
What if I am ill?
This can happen and I ask you not to worry about it. All I ask is that you give me 48 hours notice where possible and we will re-arrange your photoshoot. You will not lose your money.
If you have any doubts about whether you should go ahead or not, get in touch and we can discuss it. I want the shoot to be fun and successful – battling against an illness is no fun for anyone. Let’s take care of one another and be sensible!
